Family Worship

Hinson Baptist Church

W H E N
November 15th & 16th
7–9:30pm & 9am–12:30pm
If you're a Christian with a family or a household, this mini-conference is for you!
Whether you’re married, a single parent, grandparent, or roommate, we all agree God deserves to be worshipped in our homes by our families. We agree on the “what,” but often struggle with the "why" and “how?” Where do we begin? Will this make a difference in our life and the lives of those we are called to love? How do we prioritize family worship when life seems so busy?
Join Shai and Blair Linne as we teach about what Scripture says regarding the importance of family worship while also giving practical steps to implement this practice into your home. The conference will include teaching, singing, hip-hop, spoken word and more. Join us as we explore how to make what happens on Sunday mornings an overflow of what's been happening in our homes throughout the week. Because life is too busy to neglect God.

Why Family Worship?
The Bible Speaks of the knowledge of God being passed down generationally (Deut. 6:4-7, Ps. 78:4-7)
However, according to George Barna*, the well-known researcher of Christian practices in the U.S.:
Less than 5% of church-going families pray together outside of meals.
Less than 5% of church-going families do any kind of worship activity outside of the church building.
The majority of young adults who maintain a vibrant Christian faith beyond college identify consistent worship activities in the home while growing up as a primary contributing factor.

What Are Common Hindrances?
The Lack of Teaching- Many Christians would be willing, but are unaware of the what the Scriptures teach regarding the importance of the worshipping God in the home.
The Lack of Models- Many Christians don’t know where to begin because they don’t have clear examples of what family worship looks like practically.
The Busyness of Life- Many Christians can’t imagine how it is possible to add regular times of family worship into a schedule that is jam-packed with work, school, extra-curricular activities, other church commitments, etc.
The Paralysis of Guilt- Many Christians have experienced conviction that they should be doing more in the realm of family worship, but have allowed the time that has passed, wayward or unbelieving children, a disinterested spouse, etc. to discourage them from taking steps toward establishing new patterns in their homes.
Whom Are We Looking to Serve?
While we desire to serve whomever the Lord places in our path, we believe the primary audience for our Family Worship Mini-Conference (FWMC) will be families with young children and younger married couples. Our talks do include specific applications for those in varied situations (unmarried, single parents, grandparents, etc.). We are also interested in bringing this content to those who could benefit from the content, but may not be able to afford to bring a FWMC to their church. To that end, provided there is sufficient interest, we would like to periodically offer FWMC's free of charge in underserved communities.
This conference is not only about what you learn, but enjoying our fellowship together. We know how busy life is. We intend to sing, to laugh, to reflect, and to celebrate God’s incredible gift of family with you. Welcome to our “living room”; we’re excited to see how God will move among us!
“Happy is that family where the worship of God is constantly and conscientiously maintained. Such houses are temples in which the Lord dwells, and castles garrisoned by a Divine power.” John Newton
About the Linnes
The seeds for this season of ministry together were planted over 15 years ago. That was when we made a commitment to regularly gather around the dinner table to open God’s word, pray and sing- first as a newly married couple with no children. As God blessed us with our three beautiful children, one by one we brought them into an environment where gathering to worship the Lord throughout the week was a regular part of the rhythm of our household. In 2020, we were invited by Keith and Kristyn Getty to teach on family worship at their annual Sing! Conference. Since then, we’ve only grown in our desire and commitment to emphasizing family worship in our ministry as a couple.
